The SRH Technical Assistant consultancy is located in the Pacific Sub-Regional Office in Apia, Samoa and reports to the SRHR Specialist, UNFPA. The consultant will be based in the Ministry of Health Office and will also be overseen by the Deputy Director General, MOH. S/he is part of the programme team and works closely with the Samoa and Fiji staff in the Sub-Regional Office.

Job Purpose

The Technical Assistant will support MOH Samoa to roll-out and monitor in-service training on supply chain management of Family Planning commodities; review and revision of Family Planning and SRH Health Management Information System (HMIS) including standardized monitoring indicators and registers to appropriately capture this information; support capacity building of health workers on strengthened Family Planning and SRH HMIS. The consultant will also support introduction of Family Planning/SRH contribute to development of an SRH behavior change communication (BCC) strategy; support MOH implementation of the BCC strategy, support stakeholders’ coordination on Family Planning and SRH implementation, lead monitoring and evaluation of implemented activities including linkages to service delivery outputs.

Qualifications

 Minimum (Bachelor’s) degree in health sciences (nursing, midwifery etc.), public health, Health Promotion, or other relevant fields with minimum of seven (7) years professional experience. OR

 Minimum Master’s degree in educational science, health education, reproductive health, gender, public health, social development, social science, or other relevant fields with Minimum of five (5) years professional experience.

Conditions & Remuneration: UNFPA PSRO will contract the successful candidate under an individual contract and will be responsible for the payment of fees payable according to qualification and standard terms of payment and subject to satisfactory completion of assigned outputs. Payment will be made on completion of a monthly report. Candidates must complete a United Nations Personal History (P.11) form, together with updated Curriculum Vitae and a Cover letter.
