POST TITLE:        Shipping & Logistics Assistant                                                                                                         

DUTY STATION:   Suva, Fiji

CONTRACT:         Individual Contract

DURATION:          11 months

 

The Shipping & Logistics Assistant post is located in the Pacific Sub-Regional Office (SRO) and reports to the Reproductive Health and Commodity Security (RHCS) Technical Specialist who provides overall direction and guidance. S/he is part of the RHCS team and works closely with operations and programme staff in the Sub-Regional Office.

Job Purpose

The Shipping & Logistics Assistant will be responsible for the supervision of clearing and forwarding agents to expedite timely delivery of commodities to the Pacific Sub Regional Warehouse and managing distribution to the 14 Pacific Island countries including technical support to national public health system warehouse and central medical stores. S/he will maintain contact with customs clearing agents, shipping companies, port authorities, third party port operators, transport companies and ministry of health staff in PIC’s. Key results expected include:

 

·Port clearance

·Commodity Procurement and supply documentation

·Monitoring and Evaluation

 

Qualifications

·Completion of secondary level or an equivalent high school education is required;

·First level university degree in Administration, Economics, Business Management or related field is preferable.

·Formal recognized training or local/international certification in logistics or procurement is desirable

·Minimum of five (5) years of working experience in warehouse management, inventory/supplies management, logistics or related field in an international organization or private/public sector is required.

 

Conditions & Remuneration: UNFPA PSRO will contract the successful candidate under an individual contract and will be responsible for the payment of fees payable according to qualification and standard terms of payment and subject to satisfactory completion of assigned outputs.  Payment will be made on completion of a monthly report.
