The National Family Life Education consultancy is located in the Pacific Sub-Regional Office in Apia, Samoa and reports to the Adolescent & Youth Technical Specialist, UNFPA. The consultant will be based in the Ministry of Education, Sports and Culture Office and will also be overseen by the CEO for Curriculum Division. S/he is part of the programme team and works closely with the Samoa and Fiji staff in the Sub-Regional Office.

Job Purpose

The National Consultant will provide coordination, programming and technical assistance to the Ministry of Education, Sports and Culture in Samoa in accelerated implementation of the Family Life Education under the UNFPA managed DFAT TA programme. The successful candidate will work towards the development and implementation of a revised school based FLE curriculum for primary and secondary schools with improved teacher competency and appropriate instructional resources. S/he will have the responsibility of ensuring a programmatic linkage between FLE implementation and young people accessing SRH services through the heath sector.

 

Qualifications

·Minimum (Bachelor’s) degree in education, health sciences, public health, social science, SRH, Health Policy, Family Health, Health Research, Health Promotion, Gender Equality or other relevant fields with minimum of seven (7) years professional experience.

OR

·Minimum Master’s degree in education, health sciences, public health, social science, SRH, Health Policy, Family Health, Health Research, Health Promotion, Gender Equality or other relevant fields with Minimum of five (5) years professional experience.

 

Conditions & Remuneration: UNFPA PSRO will contract the successful candidate under an individual contract and will be responsible for the payment of fees payable according to qualification and standard terms of payment and subject to satisfactory completion of assigned outputs.  Payment will be made on completion of a monthly report.
